project Details

A team of students and faculty from NID made a trip to Chennai to assess user needs that would help develop the approach to designing the road experience. The NID team's approach was not only problem extraction but also collaborative problem solving. I handled the differection aspects of Information and its usage across the stretch of road.

A systems approach has been adopted while mapping the design opportunities. What has emerged is a need for designing an identity for the road that can be mapped on to all the facilities required by the users, therefore bringing together client aspirations and user needs. The road map being suggested is that the visual identity and the manner in which it will be applied to all products and services be worked out first. This could be followed by designing the products and services simultaneously along with landscaping. An Information system could be worked out for static and dynamic information. The design will need to take into consideration future needs of information and structures.
