UI Design : BizTalk RFID

Microsoft BizTalk RFID is an innovative device management and event processing platform at the edge of the enterprise. It is designed to provide a scalable, extensible platform for development, deployment, and management of rich RFID and sensor solutions.

BizTalk RFID v1.0 is a innovative platform providing following never before seen features in its product segment:

• Plug & Play hardware eco-system with uniform device abstraction and management
• Robust, scalable, secure server platform for RFID solutions
• Extensive partner eco-system (ISV’s/SI) for vertical solutions with low TCO, high ROI

As the UX designer for the team i worked on all the aspects of the product which ranged from Usability, UI Design, Visual Design, branding & marketing etc. A brief outline of the design process carried out:

• Data Collection involved field studies and interacting with expert RFID users
• Creating the taskflows and scenarios based on user personas
• Low-fi Prototyping
• Formative Usability testing (from RFID experts and IT admins based on the user personas)
• High- Fidelity Prototyping
• Usability Lab testing during 2 phases of the product development cycle. Test carried out with 7 users in each phase. Based on the screener Test participants were selected and a tasks list was provided. User were informed to Think aloud during the tasks execution and simultaneously video footage was captured
• Various feedbacks was gathered/analysed and incorporated in the product
• Detailed specs were created for product development
• Product Release
• Summative Testing with Baseline study
